Coach Jay

Coach Jay / St. Patrick

Background (January 2012):

Jay Ingram coached in the U10 Academy for many years before becoming lead coach of the U12 Girls Academy group.

All of our 2nd year girls know him and his positive energy (along with his “Yeah Baby” saying) from last year.

Jay passed away Friday, January 27th, 2012 from injuries after being struck by a car while on his regular morning run. Link:  uplifting article about Jay and his positive influence on people

NASA is honoring Jay through the Coach Jay 5K, and also through the yellow socks project (details below).

Yellow socks:

NASA is honoring Coach Jay this spring in several ways, one of which is going with yellow game-day socks. (Yellow was Coach Jay’s favorite color.) Most girls have received 1 pair. (We now have enough for all the girls to get two pairs.) We’ll wear yellow socks for all games this spring. If your daughter hasn’t received hers prior to Saturday’s games, have her wear her regular white game-day socks. We’ll finish distributing yellow socks next week. (We decided to make the yellow socks a permanent part of our NASA uniforms.)
