Avondale-Dunaire is a small park located near the I-285 / Memorial Drive interchange in Decatur. The park has portable restroom facilities, no concession stand. There are several fast-food places nearby on Memorial Drive.
Directions from NTH Parks:
- MNP: Driving time is approximately 30 minutes; start with step 2 below.
- UQP: Driving time is approximately 45 minutes; start with step 1 below.
- Take I-75 South to exit #259A: I-285 East (Augusta/Greenville). The I-285 exit has 3 lanes; get in the center or right lane to head east.
- Take I-285 East past Spaghetti Junction to exit #41: Memorial Drive.
- The exit ramp has two left turn lanes. Get in the right-most left turn lane.
- Turn left to go outside I-285 and immediately get in the right-most lane as you cross over I-285.
- Cross over I-285 and continue 0.2 miles. Turn right at a traffic light onto George Luther Drive. There’s a Wendy’s on the far right side of this intersection.
- Continue 0.4 miles on George Luther. The fields are on the left. There are two entrances; either will work. If you miss the entrances, there’s a chance to U-turn just past the fields.
