Blackburn Park, sometimes called Frank Jones Park, is located in Atlanta (Dunwoody area) inside I-285 off Ashford Dunwoody Road, close to the Marist School.

This is a large multi-use park that has one large soccer field and one small soccer field. The soccer fields don’t have nearby restrooms or a concession stand. (There are restroom facilities at the Blackburn tennis center, which is a lengthy walk.)

GPS systems will get you to the park, but may not get you to the soccer fields. Detailed driving directions are posted below.

Directions from Metro North Park

Driving time is approximately 20 minutes from Metro North Park. You can get there via Johnson Ferry and Glenridge, avoiding I-285, but we list directions below that involve the fewest number of turns. Driving directions:

  1. Turn left onto Paper Mill Road and go 0.2 miles to Johnson Ferry Road.
  2. Turn right onto Johnson Ferry Road and go 0.7 miles to the intersection with Riverside Drive.
  3. Turn right onto Riverside Drive and go approximately 2.5 miles to the I-285 interchange.
  4. Cross the bridge over I-285 and turn left to merge onto I-285 East.
  5. Go 3.8 miles until you reach exit #29:  Ashford Dunwoody Road. This is the Perimeter Mall exit, and it’s the first exit after the interchange of I-285 and GA 400.
  6. Get in the 2nd-to-right lane of the exit ramp and turn right onto Ashford Dunwoody (going inside I-285).
  7. Blackburn Park soccer fields

Go about 2 miles on Ashford Dunwoody. During this stretch, you’ll pass houses, soccer fields, the Marist School, a YMCA and apartments on the right. You’ll see Blackburn Park on the left.

    1. If your game is on field 3, turn left onto Woods Drive into Blackburn Park just before the baseball fields. (Landmarks: Starbucks and McDonalds on the far right, baseball fields on the far left.)
    2. If your game is on field 1 or 2, don’t turn yet! The rest of the directions take place in a short stretch that’s less than half a mile in distance. It’s easy to feel lost, but you’ll get there!
  8. Continue until you seem to pass the park. During this stretch, Johnson Ferry Road merges with Ashford Dunwoody. Your lane will become the left lane.
  9. You’ll approach a large forked intersection that has a traffic light. There’s a convenience store on the left, and other small businesses across the intersection. Turn left at this intersection onto Donaldson Drive.
  10. Go a short distance (about 0.1 miles) to a 4-way stop, then take another left onto Roberts Way / Blair Circle. You’ll see soccer fields 1 & 2 straight ahead, with parking on the left.
