McCurry Parks

Driving times are 55-70 minutes from Metro North Park, and 60-75 minutes from the United Quest Park. There are two popular routes; the new route is longer in mileage, but usually has less traffic and way fewer traffic lights than the old route, so it ends up shorter in driving time.

New route (via I-75, I-285 and I-85):

  1. Take I-75 South to I-285 West (exit 259, labeled Birmingham / Tampa, heading toward the airport). The I-285 exit has 3 lanes; get in the center or left lane to head west.
  2. Stay on I-285 until the exit for I-85 South (a couple of miles past Camp Creek Parkway).
  3. Take I-85 South (toward Columbus) for about 3 miles to exit # 64 (old exit # 13): GA Highway 138 / Union City / Jonesboro Road.
  4. Turn left onto Highway 138 and go 4.5 miles (you’ll pass several car dealerships).
  5. Turn right at a traffic light onto Highway 279 and go 2 miles (you’ll pass Evander Holyfield’s former mansion on the right).
  6. Turn right at a traffic light onto Highway 314 and go 4.2 miles. When you see the Kohl’s and Lowes’ stores on the left side, you’re close to your turn.
  7. Turn left at a traffic light onto Banks Road and go 2 miles until you reach the intersection of Banks and Highway 54.
  8. Turn right at a traffic light onto GA Highway 54 and go 0.7 miles (you’ll see McCurry Park North on the left).
  9. Turn left at a traffic light onto McDonough Road (also known as Cathy Hwy).
  10. The entrance to McCurry Park North (fields 1-7) is immediately on your left. The entrance to McCurry Park South (fields 21 and up) is a half mile down McDonough on the right.

Old route (via I-75 and GA Hwy 85):

  1. Take I-75 South past the airport to exit #237A (old exit #80), GA Hwy 85 South (not I-85).
  2. Go south on GA Highway 85 for 11 miles (through Riverdale into Fayetteville). This is a dense commercial area that has lots of traffic lights. After 11 miles, you’ll come to an intersection with the Banks Crossing Shopping Center and a Taco Bell on the right, and a Piccadilly Cafeteria on the left.
  3. Turn left at this intersection onto Banks Road and go 1.7 miles.
  4. Turn right at a traffic light onto GA Highway 54 and go 0.7 miles (you’ll see McCurry Park North on the left).
  5. Turn left at a traffic light onto McDonough Road (also known as Cathy Hwy).
  6. The entrance to McCurry Park North (fields 1-7) is immediately on your left. The entrance to McCurry Park South (fields 21 and up) is a half mile down McDonough on the right.
