2019 Halloween Soccer Shocker: T-Rex strikes!2019 Halloween Soccer Shocker: our girlsOver 140 girls attended this year’s Halloween Soccer Shocker! We thank them for their enthusiasm and creativity. Thanks also to our volunteer crew for keeping the girls fueled for all of the various Soccer Shocker activities!

Here’s a link to a bunch of photos from this year’s event: https://wcs3.smugmug.com/NASAJrAcadG/2019-Fall/Halloween-Soccer-Shocker-2019/. We’re working on videos and will post them between now and the weekend. We’ll post a link to the videos once we get the first one posted.

Halloween Soccer Shocker

goalies gloves costumesIt’s time — our 2019 Halloween Soccer Shocker party takes place today — Tuesday, October 29th!

The Soccer Shocker event started in 2010. It’s a costume party for our NTH North Academy Girls groups:  Junior Academy through U12s, including girls from Metro North and United Quest parks.

Our Soccer Shocker has become a hit thanks to the girls’ creativity and enthusiasm. We didn’t realize how popular the event had become, but it’s apparently big enough to attract famous guests ranging from Elvis to the Smurfs to the US Women’s gymnastics team.

On the scary side, we’ve had a cereal killer in attendance, but she was only a threat to Kellogg’s products. Even scarier than the cereal killer was the toilet in 2013. We only have grainy video evidence of this — it was apparently so scary that it freaked out our photographer!

2019 Halloween Soccer Shocker details:

Date:Tuesday, October 29, 2019
Time:Setup starts at 4:30. The party itself runs 5:00 - 6:15 PM, sometimes until dark.
Location:Metro North Park fields 4 & 5
Who is invited? All of our NTH North Academy Girls groups:  Junior Academy through U12s. Parents and younger sisters are also invited.
Cost:$5 per player covers the cost of pizza, snacks and water. You can pay via PayPal via the button below (even if you don't have your own PayPal account), or have your daughter give payment to her age group's party coordinator prior to or at the event.

Player notes:1. We encourage the girls to wear their Halloween costumes!
2. Girls should bring their soccer ball and water.
3. If a player's costume isn't conducive to running, have her bring soccer clothes in her bag so she can change if she wants to scrimmage. Some years we just have one big party, some years we break into groups for scrimmages or other soccer activities. We "play it by ear" and see what the kids prefer.
Three rules:1. Have fun!
2. Clean up after yourself. Your mom may be there, but she'll be there as a guest, not as your maid.
3. No silly string!
Parent notes:We encourage parents to attend. We're confident your inner child will have a blast!
Volunteers:We're looking for volunteers to help make the event even better! If you're available to help, please check with your age group's lead coach or party coordinator. Volunteer roles:
1. Coordinate pizza, water and snacks
2. Halloween-themed decorations
3. Help at the pizza / snack tables
4. Bring portable tables
5. Face painter(s)
6. Photographer / videographer
Note: Volunteers will be reimbursed for any out-of-pocket expenses.
