Uniform cycle:

NASA Tophat (NTH) started a new uniform cycle for the fall 2018 season. The uniform cycle lasts two years, or four seasons (through the spring 2020 season). All players, both new and returning, will need to order new uniforms before the fall 2018 season.

The 2020-2021 soccer year:

NTH has not yet announced whether we’ll extend the current uniform package for another year, or start a new uniform cycle. We expect to receive this information in late May, 2020.

Uniform package contents:

All NASA Tophat Girls Academy and Select age groups — Junior Academy through U19s — have the same uniform package. (Boys groups have a different uniform package.)

The girls uniform package includes:

• gold Adidas Tiro 17 shirt
• navy blue Adidas Tiro 17 shirt
• gold Adidas Tastigo 17 shorts
• navy blue Adidas Tastigo 17 shorts
• one pair of gold / white Adidas Copa Zone III soccer socks
• one pair of navy blue / white Adidas Copa Zone III soccer socks
• gray Adidas Entrada 18 training (practice) shirt(s)
• Adidas Condivo 18 black training jacket
• Adidas Condivo 18 black training pants
• Adidas Stadium II team backpack

Uniform numbers:

Each player needs a uniform number before you can order her uniform. Check with your group’s uniform coordinator, manager or coach for a list of available uniform numbers.

Junior Academy Girls:

Numbers with initials next to them below are already assigned. Top priority for uniform number selection goes to returning players, oldest to youngest. Second priority goes to new players, oldest to youngest. If a returning player wants to keep her old uniform number, she gets to do so as long as we get word by our deadline.

Uniform fitting sessions:

NTH will offer self-service uniform fittings at the Tophat fields in Buckhead (for girls), and at Metro North Park (for girls and boys). Girls and boys have different uniform packages.

Girls fittings:

• Tophat location:  Sample uniforms will be available at the Tophat fields in Buckhead Monday through Thursday, July 9-26, from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM. The uniforms will be on the ping pong table in the Tophat office (the trailer on the fields).
• Metro North Park location:  Sample uniforms will be available at Metro North Park Monday through Thursday, July 12-26, from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM . The uniforms will be in the clubhouse conference room (right side of the building), under the windows to the right of the door.

Boys fittings:

Sample uniforms will be available at Metro North Park in the clubhouse conference room Monday through Thursday from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM all summer except the week of July 4th. The uniforms will be in the clubhouse conference room, under the windows across from the door.

Fitting rules and guidelines:

• Players should wear shorts and a tank top or t-shirt, with sandals. This makes for easy try-on without having to remove clothes.
• No one may try on uniforms directly after training sessions and/or camps. Players need to come before training so uniforms can remain somewhat clean.
• No cleats in the office or clubhouse.
• Please do not remove tags or labels from the sample items.
• Return the samples to their proper locations.
• Bring either a smart phone or a pen and paper to record items’ sizes.

If you aren’t able to attend a fitting session, detailed sizing charts are available online when you place your order.

Each team coach or manager will submit their team’s roster to the NASA Tophat uniform supplier, soccer.com (also known as Eurosport). This usually takes place mid to late June after rosters have been settled and uniform numbers have been selected. soccer.com will take over the process after rosters are submitted.

June 25, 2018 update:  The NTH online store / uniform ordering system is up and running.

The “your NTH Tophat gear is ready!” e-mail message:

soccer.com will create custom order pages for each player and then e-mail each player’s family. Their e-mails will likely be sent starting the week of June 11. The soccer.com e-mail will come from the address custserv@SportsEndeavors.com. Please add this address to your e-mail safe list. (If you don’t receive the message, or accidentally delete it, you can still place your order.)

Tips for placing your order:

June 10, 2018:  We put together some tips and instructions below to help parents navigate the ordering process. soccer.com occasionally makes adjustments to their system, so parts of our help guide may not be an exact match to the soccer.com system.

The ordering process doesn’t require an extra college degree, but it has some challenges, mainly because you only do it every other year. Some tips:

• Use a full-screen computer or a computer with a standard keyboard. You can order from a mobile device, but it can be tedious.
• Set aside 15-20 minutes of quiet time. Distractions can make it easy to miss a detail here or there, which can lead to frustration.
• Watch the soccer.com “How to place an online uniform order” video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7AaCgxYK1Y&feature=youtu.be. It’s just over 4 minutes long. soccer.com also has a Frequently Asked Questions guide for online team uniform orders.
• If you need further help placing your order, you can contact a live soccer.com team sales rep via phone at 1-877-308-7989.

Starting your order via the e-mail link:

Open the “Gear Up” (or “Get Your Gear”) link in the uniform e-mail. This will take you to your daughter’s uniform ordering portal; see screen shot #2 below.

3. You can search for your player directly by name via the search box on the right side of the screen. If you go this route, once you select your daughter’s name, skip to “The ordering process” section below.
4. If your daughter has a common name, you may find it easier to search via the “Select Your Team” drop down box on the left side of the screen. Choose your team. We are listed as NTH JR ACAD GIRLS MN-QU.
5. Open the “Select Your Player” drop down and find your daughter’s name. The roster is sorted by last name, and shows your daughter’s first name, last initial and uniform number.
6. Click the red Find Uniform button.

The ordering process:

You will see a “Choose Your Package” pop-up window (screen shot #2). Select the Express Checkout Package.

You will see a “Select A Default Size” pop-up window (screen shot #3). Make your best guesses here (see Adidas size charts below), then click Apply to continue. You can change individual item sizes later in the ordering process. Shoes aren’t part of the uniform package, but entering your daughter’s shoe size will help the system determine her proper sock size. (Be sure to select the appropriate shoe size category: Youth, Women or Men.)

The screen will display a list of required NTH uniform items (screen shot #4). Don’t get hung up on the word required (link:  the items you really need.) For each uniform item, confirm or change the size. The Express checkout system already has the quantity pre-selected, but you can change that if needed.

Sizing:  Each item has a Sizing Information link. Be sure to check the sizing charts. (soccer.com doesn’t allow exchanges or returns for customized items, which means items with uniform numbers or NTH logos.)

Some items include photos with item-specific size guidelines. We’ve included thumbnails of the photo size guidelines below (click to enlarge). Some items don’t seem to offer sizing charts. If so, just click View All Size Charts (top left corner of the Sizing Information window) to display a master sizing chart, and then check the Adidas size charts. We’ve included thumbnails of the Adidas size charts below (click to enlarge).

• Backorders:  Some items might be on backorder. This means an item isn’t currently available, but will become available at a later date. If an item is on backorder, you can still include it in your order. Our supplier typically doesn’t charge for backordered items until they ship. Don’t panic about backordered game day shirts or shorts — we’ll adapt as needed to make sure everyone gets to play the early season game days, even if all uniform pieces have not yet been delivered.

Training (practice) shirts:  Training shirts now include uniform numbers. Many families buy multiple training shirts. If you already have a previous model gray Adidas NTH training shirt with the Neurosport logo, you can skip ordering the new model.

Warm-ups:  If you already have the previous model Adidas Condivo NTH warm-ups, or if cost is an issue, you can skip warm-ups.

Backpack:  The Adidas Stadium II backpack is listed in the Recommended Gear section below the Required Gear section. This is handy and includes a ball storage pocket. If you already have last year’s Adidas NTH backpack, or if cost is an issue, you can skip the backpack.

Quantities:  If you want additional training shirts, click the Quantity button to change the quantity from 1 to 2 (or more). If you want to omit an item that isn’t part of our basic uniform package, click Remove Item or change the quantity to zero.

After you select your items, click the red Add Items To Cart button.

Ordering other items:

If you want to order other NTH items (such as practice shorts and socks), they are listed in the Recommended Gear section below the Required Gear items. If you want to order other items that aren’t part of the NTH collection (such as shin guards or a ball), you can select items through the search box or red menu bar near the top of the screen.

Shopping cart / checkout:

You’ll see a green heading confirming your selections, followed by a section with Fan Wear and Training Gear (screen shot #5). There are seemingly 429 zillion items in that list. You can click the Cart button (upper right of the screen) to review your selections.

If you have a soccer.com account, but have not yet logged in, click the Sign In button. Once you sign in, you’ll return to the Checkout screen. If you don’t have a soccer.com account, click the Guest Checkout button to create an account.

As of June 2018, our supplier has a promotion adding a free Goal Club membership for online team uniform orders over $99. This gives you a 10% discount off future orders. This is a good (and free) deal!

Click the Checkout button near the top of the screen. This will start a 3-step checkout process.

1. Address:  Enter or verify your shipping address.
2. Billing:
   1. Select your shipping method. As of June 2018, there’s a free shipping offer for online uniform orders over $99. (If the free shipping offer expires, you can use discount code 499SHIP to get $4.99 shipping.) Unless you are in a big hurry, stick with Standard shipping. Items ship from North Carolina, so standard shipping usually arrives 2-3 days after items ship. (Uniform orders require customization work — applying numbers and logos — before they are ready to ship.)
   2. Enter your payment method.
   3. Enter your billing address if different from your shipping address.
3. Review:  Review your order details, make any adjustments, and then click the red Submit Order button.

Distribution:

soccer.com will ship your daughter’s uniform package directly to your home (or other specified shipping address). In some cases, you’ll receive one shipment with items that don’t require customization (logos or numbers), and another shipment with customized items.

Label / customize generic items:

Uniform shirts and the newest practice shirts are numbered. (Player names aren’t printed on uniform shirts in the Academy and Select programs.) Other items such as older practice shirts, uniform shorts, warm-ups and backpacks aren’t numbered and will look the same for all players.

We recommend labeling clothing items by using a Sharpie or laundry marker to note your daughter’s initials and uniform number on internal tags / labels. You may also choose to have warm-ups and/or backpacks embroidered. You can customize backpacks with a luggage tag, colored wrist strap, ribbon, small stuffed animal, etc. (link:  backpack tips).

This will help minimize lost & found situations.

Uniform laundering tips

Our supplier offers these recommendations (uniform FAQs).

Follow the steps below to make sure your uniform lasts as long as possible. Washing and drying your uniform without using this how-to guide could cause logos and numbers to peel off.

1. Pre-soak your uniform in cold water if it’s covered in mud, dirt or grass stains. Never use hot water as that allows stains to set.
2. Turn your uniform inside out, wash with cold water on a gentle cycle, and wash with similar items.
3. Avoid using any bleach or fabric softeners (even those in detergents). Never dry-clean your uniform.
4. Hang your uniform to dry. Dryer heat will damage the applied logos and numbers and cause them to peel off. (We have families who use the gentle dryer cycle with good results.)
