Registration, orientation and uniforms (2017)

By | June 3, 2017

Info below applies to 2017. Summer 2018 update coming June 3.

Tryouts are complete, so it’s time to take care of the administrative side of the program before we get started with Academy Team Camp in August. This consists of registration, orientation, and uniform orders.

Registration

Registration opens Tuesday, June 6. NASA Tophat (NTH) Registrar Jane Jarrett will e-mail all new and returning players that day with registration details. If you have not yet sent Ward a reply to your daughter’s invitation e-mail, Jane’s registration e-mail may come a business day or two after you accept.

Registration is mostly an on-line process. If you registered for tryouts on-line through the NTH web site, skip past the prerequisite section to the next section. If you registered for tryouts on-line via the Google Docs option, or didn’t register for tryouts, you will need to register for tryouts through the NTH web site.

Prerequisite – register for tryouts:

NTH web siteThis step is required to keep the NTH registration system happy. The Junior Academy program is a “select” program, which means players have to tryout and be invited to participate. This is unlike the recreational program, which is open to all age-appropriate players without requiring a tryout or invitation.

You won’t be able to register your daughter for the Junior Academy program unless you have already registered her for tryouts on-line through the NTH web site, also called Blue Sombrero. This is independent of the actual on-field tryout process.

  1. Returning NTH players (Academy or recreational) can register on-line using their existing NTH account. Players who are new to NASA Tophat will need to create a website account. Link:  home screen for login or to create a new account
  2. Once you’re logged in, select My Account, and then select available programs. Scroll down the list of available programs, select 2017/2018 Under 8 Girls Junior Academy Tryouts and follow the prompts.

Register for Junior Academy:

  1. Log in to your NTH account:  home screen for login
  2. Once you’re logged in, you may see basic parent / guardian account info. If so, select Back to My Account to return to your account’s dashboard. Your daughter should be listed as a participant, with a button listing a number of programs available. Click the programs available button, scroll down the list of programs, select 2017/2018 Under 8 Girls Junior Academy and follow the prompts.

Questions about registration:

If you have questions about the registration process, please contact NTH registrar Jane Jarrett.

Registration paperwork:

The NTH on-line registration system handles initial fees and the majority of player / family information. There are two other items you’ll need to submit to your age group’s coach or team manager:

  • A notarized medical consent form (all players)
  • A copy of the player’s birth certificate (new Junior Academy players only)

You can submit these in paper form at your age group’s initial orientation meeting, or you can scan them and send as PDF files to your coach or team manager.

Orientation meetings

We’ll have an orientation meeting at each park the week of June 12th:

  • Tuesday, June 13, 6:00 – 7:00 PM at the Metro North Park clubhouse meeting room. This room is on the right side of the breezeway.
  • Wednesday, June 14, 6:00 – 7:00 PM at the United Quest Park clubhouse meeting room. Enter the front door and take an immediate right into the conference room.

We’ll review the Junior Academy Girls program and schedule, along with coach, player and parent expectations, guidelines and rules, and we’ll also have an open Q&A session.

Who should attend?

Either or both parents, along with players. We’ll include players in the early part of the meeting to deal with uniform number requests, but most of the meeting is intended for parents. We’ll check on reserving a field so the girls can scrimmage while the adults meet. The girls should come dressed to play (soccer shoes and shin guards) and bring a water jug.

Schedule conflict?

If you have a conflict with your home park’s schedule, you’re welcome to attend the meeting at the other park. If you have a schedule conflict with both sessions, please check the orientation meeting agenda on June 16 or later for an updated agenda.

Uniforms

NASA Tophat 2016 girls uniform packageNASA Tophat 2016 girls uniform packageWe started a new Academy and Select program uniform cycle for the fall 2016 season. The uniform cycle lasts two years, or four seasons. Returning players won’t need to order a uniform unless they want to change their number or need replacement parts. All new players will need to order the uniform package.

There won’t be in-person fitting sessions, but our supplier (soccer.com, also known as Eurosport) provides detailed sizing charts as part of the ordering process.

There’s some administrative work required on the team management side before families can place their uniform orders. We’ll post an update once everything is ready.
