Weather notification procedures

thunderstormsWe’re in thunderstorm season. Sometimes storms bring enough rain to saturate the grass fields, and NTH closes the grass fields. NTH may send a text to all members stating that fields are closed. NTH may also post closures on the NTH web site, NTH RainedOut site and NTH social media sites. Does this mean our Junior Academy Girls activities are canceled? Not necessarily!

Quest Park puddle jumper courtWe (Junior Academy Girls) are lucky that we’re small kids, and we can work in smaller spaces. So we can squeeze onto the Metro North Park TOPS field (fake grass) or the United Quest Park puddle jumper court (fake grass and asphalt) and still have a productive practice.

If grass fields are closed, but we have access to another surface, and there’s no lightning in the area, we will still practice! If we have to cancel, check our rainy day activities for soccer skills or tests you can do at home.

How will you know?

If we change from regular plans, we post updates on both our Junior Academy Twitter account and phone hot-line, usually by 4 PM. (If we have enough time to sit down at a full computer, we’ll update our Junior Academy web site and also send out a group e-mail. But we often don’t have sit-down time before practices. So we use Twitter and the hot-line, which we can update quickly from a mobile device.)

Reminders:

  • You don’t need a Twitter account of your own to check our Twitter feed. Just click our Twitter account link and you’ll see our feed.
  • Our Junior Academy Girls communication channels apply to us only, not to any other NTH groups.
  • If we don’t post an update, that means we’re still on our standard schedule.
