Our most common game format is 5v5, but we start this spring’s schedule with two 7v7 game days. It’s still soccer, but it’s soccer on a bigger field with more players. (And bigger blobs if teammates crowd each other.)
Our regular weekday practices are well suited to helping the girls prepare for 5v5 play. But they aren’t as conducive to preparing for 7v7 play. So we’ll schedule an occasional 7v7 prep session. We’ve scheduled a 7v7 session on Saturday, February 25 at Metro North Park.
We’ll start each time slot with a group warm-up. Then we’ll split into two teams for 7v7 walk-throughs and scrimmages. All of the girls should wear their yellow uniforms. We’ll use practice vests to distinguish teams. That makes it easy to switch players if needed for competitive balance.
Schedule conflict? This event popped up without our usual advance notice. Plus it’s scheduled at the end of a school break. So we expect some schedule conflicts. If your daughter is unable to play, or is only available for the other time slot, please e-mail Ward. Depending on conflicts, we may need some girls to play in both time slots. We call this double-header (DH) play. If your daughter is available for DH play if needed, please e-mail Ward.
