2022 Fall Finale quick links:

Recap:

We finished our fall 2022 season in style, enjoying a custom cookie cake after playing a 5-team intra-Academy round robin tournament.

Competition was fierce, with every team having at least one win and one loss. The Yellow Whales and Soccer Stars teams tied for first place with 3 wins, no ties and 1 loss each. The first tie-breaker was head-to-head result. The Yellow Whales prevailed against the Soccer Stars in their game and won the right to be in the center of the Fall Finale group photos, where they unveiled the cookie cake and gave our mascots LiCec and SisCec a photo op before they start their winter hibernation.

Thank yous:

We have lots of thank-yous to go around:

  • We thank all of the girls for their effort and enthusiasm, and we recognize how much they have improved since we started our season back in August!
  • We thank the parents for their enthusiastic and positive support both today and throughout the season.
  • We thank Mother Nature for giving us more sun and less wind than we faced Thursday. It was chilly but playable.
  • We thank the team captains for organizing their teams and helping keep us on schedule.
  • We thank Robin and Sam for taking charge of the cookie cake cutting and serving. We hope the girls were acting like civilized hyenas as they waited for their treats (and saved any uncivilized hyena behavior for the “wrist girl” dribbling game).
  • A special thanks to a Publix bakery staffer who rescued our cookie cake order after a pickup date mistake.
