2022 Halloween Soccer Shocker

By | October 20, 2022

Our 2022 Halloween Soccer Shocker party was a blast! Thanks to the girls for their creativity and enthusiasm. Thanks to their parents for lending hands with the food table and clean-up. Special thanks to MC Trey for his music and game programming. Links:

About Soccer Shocker:

The Soccer Shocker event started in 2010. It’s a Halloween themed costume party for our Tophat Marietta Academy Girls groups:  Junior Academy through U12s, including girls from Metro North and United Quest parks.

Our Soccer Shocker has become a hit thanks to the girls’ creativity and enthusiasm. We didn’t realize how popular the event had become, but it’s apparently big enough to attract famous guests ranging from Elvis to the Smurfs to the US Women’s gymnastics team.

On the scary side, we’ve had a cereal killer in attendance, but she was only a threat to breakfast foods. Even scarier than the cereal killer was the toilet in 2013. We only have grainy video evidence of this — it was apparently so scary that it freaked out our photographer!

2022 Halloween Soccer Shocker details:

Date:Wednesday, October 26, 2022. Soccer Shocker replaces our usual Wednesday practice.
Time:Setup starts at 4:30. The party itself runs 5:00 - 6:45 PM
Location:Noonday Park field 7. Field 7 is on the back side of the park. Use the Shallowford Road entrance.
Who is invited? All of our Tophat Marietta Academy Girls groups:  Junior Academy through U12s, Metro North and Quest players. Parents and younger sisters are also invited.
Cost:We ask that each player (and sibling) attending contribute $5 to cover pizza and water. Please make payment to your coach or team manager.

Junior Academy Girls: Please send payment via Venmo to @ward-swain. (If prompted for phone digits, use 1487.) Label your payment with your daughter’s initials and uniform #).

We also ask that families of Junior Academy Girls players bring a bag of candy or a dozen baked goods such as cookies or cupcakes or muffins to share. (No nuts due to potential allergies.)

A portion of the $5 fee will go toward pizza and water, with the rest going to the TOPSoccer program. Last year's Soccer Shocker raised over $430 for TOPSoccer.
Player notes:1. We encourage the girls to wear their Halloween costumes!
2. Girls should bring their soccer ball and water.
3. If a player's costume isn't conducive to running, have her bring soccer clothes in her bag so she can change if she wants to scrimmage. Some years we just have one big party, some years we break into groups for scrimmages or other soccer activities. We "play it by ear" and see what the kids prefer.
Three rules:1. Have fun!
2. Clean up after yourself. Your mom may be there, but she'll be there as a guest, not as your maid.
3. No silly string!
Parent notes:We encourage parents to attend. We're confident your inner child will have a blast!
