By | November 10, 2018

2018 Fall Finale groupWe finished the fall 2018 season with our Fall Finale “Dutch Masters” tournament at the Metro North Park small turf field on Saturday, November 17th.

The Dutch Masters format is a series of mini games, with random team assignments — different rosters each game. Players earn points based on each game result:

  • 10 points for each player whose team won
  • 5 points for each player whose team tied
  • 2 points for each player whose team lost

We congratulate our top finishers! Adelie and Delany tied for 3rd place with 45 points each. Aly finished 2nd with 47 points. Lola finished 1st with a score of 50 points!

As our new Dutch Master, Lola earned the privilege of enjoying the first piece of our custom Fall Finale cookie cake, and she also won the soccer ball decoration as a trophy.

We send thank yous to our guest referees:  Sydney, Emily (“ET”) and Ally. We thank Publix and their bakery artist for the beautiful and tasty custom cookie cake. Special thanks to all the girls who captained their teams — they helped keep our schedule humming. And we also thank Mother Nature for the perfect soccer weather!

Game rules

  • Each game starts with a Texas Draw. (No kickoffs.)
  • 5v5 format with small goals and goalkeepers.
  • Restart after a goal:  player’s choice of pass or dribble.
  • Missed shots:  The defending team can call “whack it, track it” and restart play with a new ball. A player has to call “whack it, track it”, and a player (same player or a teammate) has to call “new ball” before restarting with a dead ball where the earlier ball went out of play. Restart:  player’s choice of pass or dribble.
  • Goal kicks:  Opposing team players drop back to their own half. If a player wants to do a quick restart before the other players have retreated (such as a “whack it, track it” dribble-in), she can do so.
  • Other restarts:  defending players retreat 5 yards from the ball.
  • Corner kicks:  player’s choice of pass or dribble.
  • Sideline restarts:  player’s choice of throw-in, pass or dribble.
